Turbidity meters include those with scattered light, transmitted light, and transmitted-scattered light properties, collectively known as optical turbidity meters, as well as online turbidity analyzers.
Turbidity meters can be classified according to their usage, measurement principle, and light source type. Based on usage, they are mainly divided into portable, benchtop, and online types. Based on measurement principle, in addition to scattered light, transmitted light, and transmitted-scattered light types, surface scattering types are also included. Based on light source type, they can be divided into white light sources (compliant with EPA 180.1 standards) and infrared light sources (compliant with ISO 7027 standards), with some instruments also having dual light source functionality.
