This benchtop multi-parameter sodium ion concentration meter relies on the electrochemical Nernst equation for operation. Its measuring system consists of a sodium ion selective sensor, a reference electrode (such as calomel electrode) and sample solution to form a complete galvanic cell.When the selective sensor is submerged in the solution, its membrane produces a potential linked to sodium ion activity. The voltage gap against the reference electrode forms the cell's electromotive force. The high-resistance circuit inside the instrument detects this voltage difference, then calculates and outputs pNa values or concentration data based on the Nernst equation.
